Port Charles Commitment to Affordability

Depending upon your circumstances, all services related to Assisted Living in Iowa is Tax Deductible. See the manager or your tax accountant for details.

Port Charles is an industry leader in advocating for an providing affordable assisted living opportunities for Iowa. Our commitment to affordability is reflected in what we do:

• We offer a range of monthly rates based on a choice of service plans and various apartment sizes so residents pay only for what they need and want.
• Port Charles requires no real estate purchase, lifetime endowment payment or large entrance fee.
• Our administrative health & wellness assessment is FREE!
• Port Charles participates in the Iowa Medicaid program which provides financial assistance for eligible residents. With these programs, Port Charles is able to offer a unique assurance: No qualified senior in need of personal care services will have to move from our assisted living facility due to the depletion of his or her savings. You are protected from being forced to vacate when you can no longer pay privately.
• On-site staff coordinates with local health care providers for Medicare reimbursed services whenever possible, helping to keep residents' health care costs down. (Please not that Medicare does not pay for assisted living.)

Iowa Medicaid Programs

Port Charles is strongly committed to affordability. In addition to aiding seniors with low income and assets at times of move-in, Medicaid serves as a safety net for eligible seniors who have spent down their assets paying privately.

Under the Iowa Medical program, Medicaid pays directly to provide for eligible residents' daily personal care services. Residents then use their monthly income to pay for accommodations.

In order to qualify, residents must require assistance with one or more Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) on a daily basis. In addition, residents must meet certain income and financial assets thresholds.

HUD Housing Assistance

Port Charles is also unique in further assisting residents in obtaining HUD Housing assistance. Eligible residents can receive assistance through the local Housing Program to help defray the costs of rent.

Providing affordable options for seniors doesn't means cost-cutting measures that impact services. In fact, Port Charles is known for its dedication to providing high quality, services-enriched assisted living and assembling outstanding teams of caring individuals.
